Definitively inspired by car racing, the new automatic super-chronograph from SAINT HONORE puts the Le Mans spirit on your wrist. F.P.Journe is launching the new Centigraphe Sport, first ultra light wristwatch ever entirely in aluminium, case, bracelet and movement. It discloses a new time measurement – sportive and exclusive with an authentic high horology movement.

This incredible timepiece is the first wristwatch entirely in Aluminium, case bracelet and movement.

The first Centigraphe Sport timepiece numbered 001 was offered for charity on May 30, 2011 at Christie’s Hong Kong auction by F.P.Journe in favour of the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. It sold for the extraordinary amount of HK$ 3,620,000 /US$ 465,170, close to ten times its original estimate.

This fantastic result has allowed financing 7 anti seismic houses for the “100maisons100familles” programme of Foundation de Fère constructing temporary anti-seismic wooden houses to relocate family victims of the earthquake and tsunami in the northern city of Tome, near Sendai, in Japan.

F.P.Journe has chosen the Centigraphe as first timepiece to introduce its new collection,
the “lineSport”. A collection of new watches of an astounding lightness, thought and conceived specifically for a proficient sportive activity, and that will include watches with manual as well as automatic winding.

This collection has been inspired by an important collector, aficionado of F.P.Journe watches, who committed himself in numerous marathon and triathlon competitions and wished to have an ultra light sports watch, coupled with a movement of authentic high horology. The passage from 18K rose gold – used for all the F.P.Journe movements – to aluminium was not without difficulty, for obvious technical reasons. F.P.Journe took his research to a higher level in an aesthetical quest to complete an appropriate contrast in colours.

F.P.Journe perfected different methods of special processing in order to make the aluminium scratch resistant and give it anti corrosive and anti-allergic properties.

Gold prices are soaring to record highs, reaching as high as $1386 an oz. in mid-October 2010, far surpassing the rises of other precious metals at a record pace. People are looking to gold as the safe investment of the future. It’s not just gold bullion or coins, but rather anything that is made out of gold.

Storefronts and websites are popping up by the hundreds, offering to buy ‘old’ gold jewelry. These places are hoarding in the gold. However, gold analysts are predicting gold to rise to even greater highs. “Before trading in your father’s gold watch for quick cash”, says gold watch specialist Nathan Gross of GoldWatches.com, “consider this. in the last 6 months gold has jumped more than $150 an ounce and in the last year gold has soared $300 an ounce, and in the last 5 years a whopping $850 an ounce, and showing no signs of receding from its’ highs!”

“With no slowdown in the price of gold in sight” says Gross “many people are holding on to whatever gold they have, and should perhaps consider buying gold watches and jewelry for their future.” However, this may not be as easy as you think, notes James Matthews a seasoned gold investor. “With the rise in the cost of gold, you may find gold watches and jewelry fetching a premium. Still, I am cautiously bullish on the future of gold.”

However, as leading precious metals analyst Norman Edelman noted that in 1980 while gold prices reached a record high of $850 an oz., over the next two decades, gold sustained a level between $300 – $400 an ounce. “I am cautiously optimistic for the immediate future of gold prices” says Edelman “however, as I tell all my clients, it’s good to diversify”.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are an annual award given by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to recognize outstanding performances by members. The star studded 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was graced with some of the finest Neil Lane jewelery and custom suits as the actors and actresses graced the red carpet.
