Parmigiani Fleurier Pershing Chronograph

Written by Alex Wolpo

In 2009, Parmigiani Fleurier is to confirm the importance of its exclusive partnership signed with Pershing, the Italian top-of-the-range yacht builder, with the development of a new chronograph line. We love these diamond watches

Launched in February 2008 in Mondolfo, the headquarters of the Italian brand, the alliance of the two firms very soon excited fine mechanism enthusiasts. Seen as Parmigiani Fleurier’s first highly sporty watch collection, the Pershing limited edition “one-one-five” chronograph, and then the Pershing “zero-zero-five” won over a broad international public, corroborating the good match between the two business cultures, based on values of excellence and expertise in manufacturing know-how. The new Pershing “zero-zero-two” chronograph collection offers the advantage of matching the expectations of the broad public. Its compact size, with a 42 mm diameter, means that it can be worn by gentlemen, whose preferences will tend more to sobriety and classicism, but also by ladies.

Fully redesigned to achieve balanced lines, its case is made from steel, 18 carat white gold or rose gold. Its Calibre Parmigiani PF 334 in-house automatic movement offers chronograph indications (large seconds, 30 minute counter, 12 hour counter) combined with a large date display window. Its push-pieces are made from white or black rubber, depending on the wristlet colour, if the watch is steel; they are made from precious metal if the chronograph model is gold. Its unidirectional rotating bezel, 3-metre base tachometric measurement indicator and its 100 metre water resistance give it the ideal characteristics for a diving watch.

A highly feminine version Pershing “zero-zero-two” chronograph has been custom designed, with a number of alluring original details. In tribute to a more poetic maritime look, its blue mother-of-pearl dial reflects the ocean deeps, which is underlined via the presence of a small stylised octopus placed on the end of the chronograph hand. The small seconds is a starfish that turns to mark the seconds. The brilliance of the aquatic reflections is interpreted by precious diamond and sapphire baguettes set on its bezel.

There is a white Hermès Epsom calfskin strap, with blue stitching, for the mother-of-pearl version; and a steel bracelet or natural rubber strap for the more classic versions of the Pershing “zero-zero-two” chronograph with graphite, amaranth or silver dial.
