New York—Movado watches brand, which has had a long-standing commitment to the arts, has been named the official watch of the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C.’s famed performing arts center.
As the official watch, Movado will be celebrating the arts through a variety of events throughout the year.
Earlier this month, Movado presented each of this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees—recipients recognized for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts—with a Movado watch inscribed with the words “Kennedy Center Honoree 2006″ as well as the recipient’s name.
This year’s esteemed honorees include musical theater composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Weber, conductor Zubin Mehta, country singer and songwriter Dolly Parton, songwriter and producer Smokey Robinson, and film director and producer Steven Spielberg.
Efraim Grinberg, chief executive officer and president of Movado Group, presented each honoree with the Movado M125, which was created in celebration of Movado’s 125th anniversary, and is distinguished by an exclusive commemorative dial that features only three Arabic numerals at 1, 2 and 5 o’clock.
